An amazing thing happened last month. RAINN’s hotlines helped 11,842 people — our second-highest total in five years.
This was due to the courage of Gregg Milligan, a RAINN Speakers Bureau member who recently appeared on The Oprah Show. Gregg shared his horrifying ordeal of being raised by a vicious mother who, for years, sexually and physically abused him. You can hear Gregg’s story here.
Gregg’s inspiring story of hope and perseverance unearthed memories for many and prompted an astounding increase in people reaching out to RAINN for help. The day after the show aired, calls to the National Sexual Assault Hotline skyrocketed, and we helped 11 times more victims than we had the day before.

- $96 pays to operate the Online Hotline for 30 minutes.
- $247 will pay for eight hours of technical support for volunteers.
- $1,200 will help 63 victims receive crisis support through the Online Hotline.
