Many thanks to SAFE House for joining the state of Nevada in acknowledging Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2010!

SAFE House is working with three high school libraries to promote Denim Day and Teen Dating Violence in Henderson.  They also plan on writing an article for the local newspaper, Henderson Home News, discussing SAAM.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to ALIVE in Lyon County, Nevada
for joining the state of Nevada in acknowleding
2010 Sexual Assault Awareness Month!

April 21st is the day to wear denim in Yerington! Lyon County ALIVE will be participating in Denim Day by decorating and hanging over 50 pairs of denim jeans in the office windows of ALIVE in both Yerington and Fernley.  There will also be contests in Fernley and Yerington for decorating denim. Don’t forget to enter your decorated denim! Bring them by the ALIVE offices in Yerington and Ferley and be sure to look for the decorated jeans in the window of the Yerington Thrift Store, too!  ALIVE will also be selling the jeans!  Feel free to help distribute the ALIVE Denim Day flyers encouraging others to wear denim April 21st!  

It’s official! The proclamation acknowledging Sexual Assault Awareness Month has been signed by the Mayor of Yerington and it will be placed in the newspaper the first week of April!

for joining the State of Nevada in recognizing
April 2010  Sexual Assault Awareness Month!

Look for the teal awareness ribbons around the 50 trees at Great Basin College’s entrance.  Along with the ribbons, national and local statistics will be posted randomly among the trees on Sexual Violence. Take a look and learn more about Sexual Violence in Elko!

Keep an eye out for the official City of Elko and Elko County proclamations!

 

April SAAM Events in Winnemucca!

Many THANKS to
Winnemucca Domestic Violence Shelter for
joining the State of Nevada in making
Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2010
memorable in Humboldt County!

April 3rd:  3pm Proclamations and Pinwheel/ribbon ceremony held at City Hall to promote awareness for Child Abuse Prevention(Pinwheels for Prevention) , Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the White Ribbon Campaign (men working to end violence against women). 

April 22nd: displaying decorated denim pants in businesses for Denim Day

April 24th: 11am-4pm 2nd Annual Party in the Park for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

Winnemucca Domestic Violence Shelter will have bounce houses, health and nutrition booths, information on gardening, a snake, outdoor ethics activities, music, fear factor, and awareness booths.  Denim day posters and the decorated pants will be at the Party in the Park and throughout the community.

State of Nevada in proclaming April,
“Sexual Assault Awareness Month”!The official proclamation has been signed by
Mayor Ken Tedford, Jr.!

A big thank you to Tina Kroepel with DVI Fallon
for making Sexual Assault Awareness Month a priority in her community!

Strike Out Sexual Assault Bowling event:

Strike Out Sexual Violence in Fallon!

April 5-9th there will be a daily raffle ( 50/50 split) with all leagues that play that week.

April 29th Strike Out Sexual Assault Bowling Tournament 7:30 pm with all proceeds to be donated to Domestic Violence Intervention.  

Throughtout the month of April DVI Fallon donation cans will be placed in various locations with the Strike Out Sexual Assault logo on them. Be sure to donate to the cause! 

April 8th, 10am Pinwheel in the Park ( Millenium Park in Fallon); Linda East, DVI Executive Director, will be a guest speaker. 

NAS Fallon will be holding a bowling event on the 22nd of April at the bowling alley on base! 

 April 23rd, DVI Executive Director, Linda East, will be the keynote speaker at Fallon Banner Churchill Hospital for hospital staff on Sexual Assault from 11am-1pm.
