Tax-Exemption Status

Google ImageAccording to National Public Radio and the IRS, more than 200,000 charities and nonprofits could lose their tax-exempt status if they fail to submit the 990-N form by Monday, May 17, 2010. While many agencies have submitted and secured their tax-exemptions, NCASV wants to be sure our member programs, affiliated agencies and partners are aware. To read NPR’s news alert, click here . SAAM Events in Humboldt, County!

Mar 30th, 2010 Posted in Events, News | no comment »

Community Advocates Against Sexual Assault (CAASA) in Winnemucca will be bringing awareness to sexual assault and Child Abuse Awareness Month in April!

CAASA is celebrating Denim Day on April 21st.  If you and/or your organization would like to participate in Denim Day, CAASA is providing denim ribbons, free of charge. Of course, donations are happily accepted!  Just email or call CAASA with how many ribbons you would like and they can deliver the ribbons to you. humboldtcaasa@sbcglobal.net  or call 623-2328

April is also Child Abuse Awareness Month.  CAASA is working with the Nevada Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association to bring this excellent program to Humboldt County.

CASA programs throughout the United States now serve over 240,000 abused and neglected children through more than 900 programs nationwide.

Every day, child in Nevada are victimized through abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Often these children are removed from their home and placed into our juvenile court system.  In 2009, Humboldt County had 199 reports of child abuse and neglect. Our goal is to provide a CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child in the court system. We are going to be working with local Scentsy Consultant, Sharon Krupicka, to help us raise the money needed to implement a CASA in Humboldt County.

Over the entire month of April, CAASA will be selling Scentsy Candles. If anyone would like to purchase Scensty for this wonderful cause, (and some excellent products!), please contact us via our site, www.humboldrcaasa.com , email humboldtcaasa@sbcglobal.net  or call 623-2328, 623-2312, 775-247-2395.

BE THE SOLUTION

Mar 18th, 2010 Posted in Events, News | 2 comments »

Hi There!

Nevada Coalition Against Sexual Violence is so impressed with the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs’ Be The Solution Campaign that we’re going to help them spread the message! We hope you will, too!

Here’s what you need to do:

1.  Watch the slideshow (in the link above)

2. Download the anti sexual violence flag form, or other anti flag form of your choice

3. Decide and write your “pro”

4. Email the picture to: outreach@ncasv.org!

5. Encourage others in your life to Be The Solution and send us their pictures, too!

We’ll post them and celebrate you for your support in ending sexual violence! Then, you post them on your social networking sites, in your office, classrooms, homes, cars, newsletters, etc. and spread the anti violence message!

I thought I’d share a couple of my “Pro” pictures with you! Took me about 15 seconds to create and download! Now, it’s your turn! Email them to me at outreach@ncasv.org

Now let’s see the power of the “pros”!

Until the “pro” messages stifle the violence,

Kari Ramos,
Director of Outreach at NCASV
