Mar 30th, 2010 Posted in Events, News | no comment »Community Advocates Against Sexual Assault (CAASA) in Winnemucca will be bringing awareness to sexual assault and Child Abuse Awareness Month in April!
CAASA is celebrating Denim Day on April 21st. If you and/or your organization would like to participate in Denim Day, CAASA is providing denim ribbons, free of charge. Of course, donations are happily accepted! Just email or call CAASA with how many ribbons you would like and they can deliver the ribbons to you. humboldtcaasa@sbcglobal.net or call 623-2328
April is also Child Abuse Awareness Month. CAASA is working with the Nevada Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association to bring this excellent program to Humboldt County.
CASA programs throughout the United States now serve over 240,000 abused and neglected children through more than 900 programs nationwide.
Every day, child in Nevada are victimized through abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Often these children are removed from their home and placed into our juvenile court system. In 2009, Humboldt County had 199 reports of child abuse and neglect. Our goal is to provide a CASA volunteer for every abused and neglected child in the court system. We are going to be working with local Scentsy Consultant, Sharon Krupicka, to help us raise the money needed to implement a CASA in Humboldt County.
Over the entire month of April, CAASA will be selling Scentsy Candles. If anyone would like to purchase Scensty for this wonderful cause, (and some excellent products!), please contact us via our site, www.humboldrcaasa.com , email humboldtcaasa@sbcglobal.net or call 623-2328, 623-2312, 775-247-2395.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2010 in April!
Victim Witness Services plans on providing the community an opportunity to honor victims of sexual assault with the new life of a tree through The Tree Planting Project! Victim Witness Services plans to give recognition to those who have been sexually assaulted in their community while counteracting pollution, allowing prisoners to come full circle and bringing awareness to crime by beautifying the area. They will be planting trees in 30 different locations throughout the community in honor of victims of sexual assault. After the trees are planted, teal ribbons will be placed around the trunks to signify SAAM and fliers will be placed nearby to explain the significance of the teal ribbon.
